PHS Welcomes Logan Torgison
by Galen Berg
Logan Torgison, the new biology and earth science teacher at Polson High School, has returned to his roots after graduating from PHS in 2008.
Before he started teaching, Torgison approached studying many different majors before finally landing on microbiology. His first big job was at the Bioscience Labs in Bozeman, Montana, where he worked for six years. During that time, he helped run clinical studies related to microbiology.
Eventually, Torgison decided to transition into teaching because he wanted a career that felt more meaningful than spending his days working in a lab.
At his first job in North Dakota, he spent three years teaching kids about science and biology. After that he moved on to St. Ignatius, taught there for two years before teaching in Ronan.
Torgison said, “A big part of me becoming a teacher was my entire family, most being teachers.” Torgison gives us a glimpse into this influence by saying, “My Dad, taught in Polson and both my mom and sister taught in North Dakota.” Torgison’s journey from lab work to teaching reflects his desire to make a difference in students’ lives with a combination of scientific knowledge and genuine enthusiasm for teaching.
