Polson’s 13th Annual FLIC Film Festival – February 14-16, 2025
FLIC is back in its 13th year, from February 14-16, 2025, at the Showboat Stadium 6 in Polson, Montana. Prepare to view local and international films. Festival organizer David W. King said, “We’ve got movies from 18 different countries this time, which is the most ever! Plus, there’s a bunch of films from Montana too.” Raya Lucas, a National Honor Society member at Polson High School, volunteered at FLIC to give back to the community and support local film. Lucas says that events like FLIC provide a platform for emerging filmmakers and a chance to see unique films that “you don’t usually see on the big screen.”
The event kicks off on Valentine’s Day at 4:30 PM with a dessert reception, followed by movie screenings at 6 PM. “We’ll have some great desserts from local spots in the lobby of Showboat Stadium 6,” noted King. Saturday morning February 15 is family-friendly with a free animated movie and egg burrito breakfast at 9:30. Later, there’s a mixer where you can meet filmmakers. The big finale is the Awards Ceremony at 5:30 PM on Sunday (February 16).
FLIC is more than just a film festival; it’s a big boost for the Polson community. The festival gives local filmmakers a chance to show their work alongside films from around the world. With movies from all over, FLIC also shines a spotlight on Montana talent, helping local creators make a place for themselves in the film industry.
However, it’s not just about films; it’s about bringing people together. Volunteers like Lucas help make the event happen and support the arts in Polson. “FLIC gives people a chance to see films they wouldn’t normally get to see,” said Lucas. Events like this also help connect people from different backgrounds and cultures.
Local businesses also benefit from FLIC, as the event brings visitors to the area. Local restaurants and shops get involved by providing snacks and beverages, helping the town and bringing attention to Polson. The festival is also a great way for families to enjoy something fun together. With movies and breakfast for kids, FLIC introduces younger generations to the magic of cinema.
FLIC helps make Polson a place where people can come together, enjoy great films, and celebrate the arts. The event leaves an impact on the community, bringing people closer and showing the power of film
